Title: BEHIND THE PHONEY SMILES
Author: IKYAABO BARNABAS TERHEMBA
Publisher: Premier Media & Graphics
Year of Publication: 2016
In BEHIND THE PHONEY SMILES, a volume of over sixty poems, through the power of observation and description, unmodified by passion, poems rooted in every day, ordinary physical and social reality in the rich continuum of life have been most powerfully enforced. Efforts have been made to present as many different bounds of poetry as possible. The poems have not however, been divided into classes but are so scattered at random.
The captured things of the landscape are blended and transformed poetically into new configurations and image-patterns which are shaped by my inner sense of the pervasive and inescapable realities of the world.
In all, BEHIND THE PHONEY SMILES is reminiscent of the countless pitiable experiences associated with human existence on the bleak side of life; there, where smiles are not only ephemeral but also fake…hiding confusion, disillusionment and every word that means pain. I hope that readers will find this work of fiction blended with facts, engaging and interesting too.
