TOO LONG A NIGHT

Too Long A Night

www.facebook.com/WRRPoetry [Too Long A Night]

Heavy eyes beckons sleep,
But long gone is sleep;
No slumber for a heavy heart.

The darkness of night lengthens,
Stretches the air in between
And touches a socked pillow.

Then it stretches some more,
‘Cos it feels nothing,
No care, no love, no sympathy.

The longing for dawn deepens,
Sweetness of horizon replays,
But the cocks remain mute, waiting time.

Racing heart of the repentant,
Recounts presumptuous sin,
Not to the God, but one so dear.

And in the mix
…Countless season compress into one,
Too long a night
