Ply your silken path,
You butterfly –
Let the sun refract your iridescent colors
Of rouge and earth and sky.
Taste the nectar of freedom in the wind,
And glide unbridled on the wings
Perch high and eschew
The matrix of shrubbery,
Lest you cocoon in the fist
Of infantile curiosity.
Ply your silken path, butterfly;
Descend with your clan like colorful confetti.
Close, yet not so close.
The thrill of your elusion is the spark of my elation,
The mask of green countenance for us earth-bound.
Fly away, butterfly,
In your flurry of colors.
