CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: Eriata Oribhabor Poetry Prize 2012

The maiden edition of the Sir Eriata Oribabor Poetry Prize is here and the Words Rhymes and Rhythm platform has been selected to host it.

In line with this, submissions are solicited from poets all over the world.

PRIZES
First Prize:    N15,000    ($95)
Second Prize:     N10,000    ($ 63)
Third Prize:     N 5,000     ($ 32)

GUIDELINES
*Entrants must be members of the WRRPoetry family [have LIKED the page www.facebook.com/WRRPoetry]

*Entries must be original intellectual property of the entrants and cannot be altered or changed after submission.

*Entries should be made to as a message to the WRRPoetry page INBOX with the heading ‘Eriata Oribhabor Poetry Prize 2012’.

* Poems can be on any theme but preference would be given to poems that address social issues.

*Only 1 [ONE] entry per entrant is allowed and multiple submissions via different profiles would be penalized.

*Poems previously published may also be accepted.

*The judges’ decision is final.
CLOSING DATE:
Entries will be received from Monday November 26, 2012 to Saturday December 8, 2012.

NOTE:
Judges will be looking out for originality, delivery, expression and above all, the poet’s ability to strictly observe the rules of poetry and employ literary devices.

 

PROFILE OF Mr. Eriata ORIBHABOR

Edwin Eriata Oribhabor

Mr Oribhabor holds a B.Sc. (Pol. Sci) degree, an Essayist, Poet, Chairman, Association of Nigerian Authors, Abuja, and member of the Naija Langwej Akedemi put together by the Institute of French Research in Africa (IFRA-NG).

He is a promoter of Naija langwej (Nigerian Pidgin) and writes the column Naija Langwej A-Z in Leadership Newspaper, Abuja Nigeria.

His first published book, Abuja Na Kpangba an oda puem-dem (IFRA-Oribhabor, 2010) is a collection of poems in Naija.

He is the Editor of If Yu Hie Se A De Prizin, an anthology of poems in Naija. His forth-coming work, ‘‘The Good Old Naija’’ is a collection of essays published in his column, ‘‘Naija Langwej A-Z’’ in Leadership and defunct The Market magazine.

Oribhabor manages a publishing outfit called Something for Everybody Ventures.

He enjoys discussions on topical issues, traveling, tours and adventures.

Mr Oribhabor is passionate about positive change for his country Nigeria and encourages young writers to develop their potentials towards achieving their dreams.
