Akpoviri Akpoveta Prince was born in Benin City on the 4th of January 1976 to parents who both hail from Delta State in Nigeria.
The second child and the son in a family of seven children, he grew up mostly in Warri, Delta State and speaks Urhobo, Edo.
He started school in Delta Steel Company Primary School in Orhuwhorun and later proceeded to The Delta Steel Company Technical High School. He obtained Bachellor of Science Degree in Public Administration from the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State.
Akpoviri has always had an interest in the Arts, especially drawing, painting and wood carving. Also, while in secondary school, his friends called him “Kpovesor” as in the corrupt form of Professor which was as a result of my Grammatik writing prowess during English Classes.
At first, Akpoviri did not pick interest in writing, choosing music instead, eventually managing young talents, some of whom are famed in the Nigerian music scene today.
His biggest writing influence came in 2001 while schooling at Ekpoma when he met a screen writer and was bought over from music to writing.
In 2004, fresh from the University, Akpoviri sold his first movie screenplay to a production house in Accra, Ghana and he has since not looked back. By 2009, after several writing succeses, Akpoviri made up his mind to take writing full time.
He has since written articles for several Magazines like Dembaqq Magazine and his debut novel, GORILLA OF THE NIGER DELTA, was published by CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform in 2015.
His interest in poetry was fired by Kukogho Iruesiri Samson and his Words, Rhymes & Rhythm community in 2013.
Akpoviri says everything inspires him to write; movies, pictures, songs, people, stories, personal experience. He publishes some of his poems and work in my personal website akpoviriakpoveta.com.
