do you know amu nnadi

he is a Nigerian writer and here are 3 things we think you should know about him:

  1. amu nnadi is the author of six poetry collections: ‘the fire within’ (2002), ‘pilgrim’s passage’ (2004), ‘through the window of a sandcastle’ (2013), ‘ihejuruonu’ (2015), ‘a river’s journey’ (2016), and ‘a field of echoes’ (2016),  with three more forthcoming  – ‘the love chronicles’, ‘eucalyptus’, and ‘conversations’.
  2. all amu nnadi’s books bear a dominant black image – which, he says, represents the mystery of the poems and the primal essence of being, “the presence and absence of things”, and he writes poetry without capitals nor full stop, because life “is a seamless stream of commas and no stops.”
  3. amu nnadi’s impressive list of literary awards include the inaugural ANA/NDDC Gabriel Okara Poetry Prize in 2002; the ANA Poetry Prize (2013) the inaugural Glenna Luschei African Poetry Prize (2014). he was shortlisted for the Nigeria Prize For Literature 2005; was runner-up for the same Prize in 2013 and is the current Resident Poet of the Port Harcourt Literary Society (PHLS).

An alumnus of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (Mass Communications), amu nnadi is a deputy director in the Corporate Affairs Department of the Niger Delta Development Commission, an agency under the Presidency, Federal Government of Nigeria.
He began writing poetry in response to a dare, having not studied English Literature, and publishes without his photograph, convinced that no poet owns what he writes and that poets are only vessels in the hands of a great influence.
