Do you Shareefah Ibrahim Zarma?

She is a Nigerian writer and here are 3 things we think you should know about her:

  1. Shareefah Ibrahim Zarma is a Kaduna-born writer, spoken work artist, public speaker, and women rights campaigner from the Babur tribe of Askira-Uba Local Government Area Borno State. She was educated at schools in Kaduna and Kano States.
  2. Shareefah started writing in 2015, heavily influenced by feminist ideals, and has published two books – The Silent Noise and Other Poems (2016) and Black Rose (2018), in addition to using literature to promote women empowerment.
  3. She holds a degree in English Literature from the Kaduna State University (2015 cohort) and her favourite books are ‘HER’, an anthology by the African-American poet, Pierre Alex Jeanty, and Canadian poet Najwa Zebian’s ‘Nectar of Pain’.

Her personal philosophy is: “any human can achieve whatever their mind is set towards – if they work towards it – and no human being on earth is unskilled or unintelligent, some are just yet to unlock their potentials.”
